Through this partnership, the Foundation will make its Veoliaforce volunteer experts available to MSF to support research and innovation projects around issues touching on its activities in the field in areas closely related to Veolia's business activities: energy, waste, sanitation and safe drinking water.
In this strategic field, the goal is a dual one:
- Optimize energy management in MSF missions to make savings and reduce their energy footprint;
- Reflect on the use of renewable energies, solar in particular, with the aim of increasing project autonomy.
The first trial initiative: installation of photovoltaic panels for secure and autonomous supply of electricity to the MSF anti-malaria mission in Moïssala, in Chad.
Collaboration in the field since 2012
Collaboration between the Foundation and MSF started in 2012 in the framework of the combat against cholera in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with rehabilitation and extension of the potable water network in the town of Kalemie, in Katanga, to provide access to better-quality water for 90,000 people.
In a second phase, an "Aquaforce 500" emergency water production unit was tested then installed in two South-Sudanese refugee camps catering for more than 40,000 people in northern Uganda.
